SUMMARY:2026 CRAGS/NARGS AGM Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Calgary Rock & Alpine Garden Society (CRAGS) will be hosting  the North American Rock Garden Society (NARGS) Conference & Annual General Meeting in Calgary\, Alberta\, Canada between June 25 – 28\, 2026. \nCRAGS invites rock gardeners to Calgary this June to celebrate rock-loving plants and rock gardens. \nCalgary is located on the western edge of the Northern Great Plains\, within sight of the Rocky Mountains. Owing to its elevation (1045 m\, 3400 ft) and associated cool nights\, Calgary provides favorable conditions for rock and alpine gardens\, despite the challenges of warm\, drying winds (chinooks) that punctuate otherwise cold winters. \nNature abounds in the Calgary region\, including six UNESCO World Heritage Sites with either alpine or dryland rock-loving vegetation within a 2 to 7 hour drive of Calgary. \nThe 2026 meeting and associated activities promise to be engaging and informative. Confirmed speakers include Vojtěch Holubec (Czech Republic)\, Jay Akerley (Kamloops\, British Columbia)\, Todd Boland (St. John’s\, Newfoundland)\, Stephanie Ferguson (Calgary\, Alberta)\, and John Noad (Calgary\, Alberta). \nOpportunities and challenges of gardening in the Chinook zone will be discussed during visits to gardens of CRAGS members and municipal rock gardens the club helped develop. Field trips to the nearby Front Range of the Rocky Mountains will provide guided introduction to the native alpine flora. \nFoRRGS is proud to participate in the CRAGS/NARGS Conference & Annual General Meeting.

DESCRIPTION:The 11-day history festival is back for the 36th year. Plan on taking in several of the 75-plus events\, comprised of walks\, tours and presentations – something for everyone. \nThe theme this year\, Chinook Country: Influences and Icons\, will explore the places\, events and personalities that have been important in the growth and successes in our society. In addition to events in Calgary\, you can learn of the interesting past of places such as High River\, Okotoks\, Chestermere\, Cochrane and more. \nAgain this year\, there will be an exhibition of modern photographs of iconic historic places. This year the exhibition will be in the Central Library. \nFoRRGS is a proud annual participant of Historic Calgary Week.
